Winter is for Hibernation

I get my best ideas during the colder months; it's like my body wants to slumber but my brain never stops moving. These are small ways in which the body is connected to the earth and the universe as a whole. Think of vegetation, it grows and expands toward the sun in the spring and summer and is ready for harvest in the fall.

The roots remain underground in the winter like they are stretching toward the earths core for better warmth. Making the whole body more sturdy, strong enough to withstand the negative temps happening just at the earths surface.

People have commented that January was like living a whole year and gosh I do feel that sentiment. I spent the better part of the month hiding my roots underground in hibernation while I let my brain get to work. There were circumstances I could not control that affected me greatly. But like a hundred year old tree, I allowed my leaves to fall to the ground and dug a little deeper within myself.

I'm here to tell you that it is perfectly okay for you to hibernate, too. Your mental health needs a break and exercises in expanding your path are crucial. Big goals are attained by formulating ideas, adding your details as you go to perfect the end result.

Hibernation is the missing piece to the cycle. Hibernate, leave the distractions at the door, store your energy and be ready to break the surface when your Spring hits.
